Have You Unpacked, Yet?
Have You Unpacked, Yet?

About two months ago life changed which left me wondering where the Lord would be directing me. My husband and I moved, which at our age was a daunting task, requiring all our concentration and physical abilities to pack our home and decide what to keep, what to take, and what to give away. As a retired educator, my books alone took eight crates just for the ones I planned to keep.

As we ciphered through our stuff, we realized most of the items we no longer needed. We also looked at our "stuff" through eyes of a couple married almost twenty-five years. It's true with age comes the desire to minimize your life and your "stuff."

As the weeks continue to roll on, I'm learning there are boxes in my mind which need unpacking. How often do we store items in our mind which affect how we move. For me, hurt held a place I needed to unpack. It is taking time to deal with the items stored in my box of hurt. But, The Lord is showing me He is Able. He is able to heal my heart and heal the thoughts in my mind.

Psalm 28:7 reminds me, "The Lord is my strength and my shield. My heart trusts in Him and He helps me. My Heart Leaps for Joy and with my song I will praise Him." I've asked The Lord to place His shield around my mind and remove any thoughts which stop me from forgiving and moving forward. The deceiver would like nothing more than to stop me from growing in my walk with The Lord. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light and it is through Him alone my box of hurt will be emptied and the box destroyed. My heart leaps for "Joy" because of Him, I don't have to be held bound by what others think or do. He sets me free, and I sing a song of thankfulness and gratefulness because of what The Lord has done.

My friends, may you live in His Grace, and trust in Him to crush those boxes which hold us in one place be it doubt, hurt, fear, etc. Praying your move is a blessed one. Remember Jesus loves you. Don't hold onto those boxes. May you feel His Strength today.

You are loved.
